State Disaster Management Authority (OSDMA) in the field of disaster preparedness.
The award is conferred for valuable contribution in creating
greater public awareness on multi-hazard risk and vulnerability in the
districts of Odisha, establishing Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF),
conducting community capacity building interventions at the sub-district
levels, conducting mock drills in the multipurpose cyclone shelters in Odisha,
monitoring a close watch on cyclone Phailin from 8th October 2013 onwards,
ensuring the evacuation of more than ten lakh people and their safe movement to
cyclone shelters in Odisha and minimizing the loss of lives due to cyclone
Phailin in the affected areas.
