KIMS gets 50 more MBBS seats

Bhubaneswar: The Union Ministry
of Health and Family Welfare has approved 50 more MBBS seats in the Kalinga
Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), a constituent of KIIT University. The
Ministry increased the number of seats in KIMS from 100 to 150 for the academic
year 2014-15 under Section 10A of IMC Act, 1956 following recommendations of
Medical Council of India (MCI) vide its letter no. 37(1)
(I-20)(UG)/2013-Med./113851 dated 10.06.2014.
Recently, MCI conducted
a complete verification of KIMS regarding its infrastructural facilities in
terms of teaching and non-teaching staff, buildings, equipment and hospital
facilities as per MCI’s norm.
