Odisha CM not to tie Rakhi for flood this year

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on
Saturday decided to abstain from Raksha Bandhan programme this year and called
upon supporters not to visit him on Sunday to tie rakhi to him in view of the
high flood.
The Chief Minister took this decision to express solidarity
with the flood-affected people.
While around 3.60 lakh people of 532 villages are still
marooned in different parts of the State while 1.35 lakh people have taken
shelter on various river embankments. Meanwhile, the death toll due to the high
flood rose to 37 on Saturday.
On Thursday Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik took an aerial
view of flood affected areas of Cuttack, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak and Puri
districts to take stock of the situation.
