NGT chief Justice Kumar likely to visit Puri on Sunday

Green Tribunal Chairman Justice Swatanter Kumar is scheduled to visit Puri on Sunday to
take stock of the ongoing process of closing down of hotels in the coastal town
of Puri for discharging untreated water and also to review other environmental
issues.
The Odisha State
Pollution Control Board (OSPCB) initiated the process of closing down 11 hotels
in the coastal town of Puri for discharging untreated water to the (Mahodadhi) Bay of Bengal.
Justice Kumar who will
reach Bhubaneswar on Saturday will visit Puri to review the environmental problems
as it was located in a high damage risk zone, sources added.
Puri draws the largest
number of tourists than any other place in the State because of Shri Jagannath
Temple and its beautiful golden beach.
Meanwhile, the Puri
pollution control board officials and district administration have already closed
down some of the hotels by snapping power connection and seizing generators.
Meanwhile, Government machineries
are on their toes to ensure that all the directions of the NGT particularly in the
matter of Puri beach are sorted out before the visit of the NGT chief.
