Eight arrested, loot plan nixed in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, Sep 24: Acting
on a tip-off the Commissionerate Police on Wednesday arrested eight persons all
of them belonging to the capital city of Bhubaneswar while preparing to collect
ransom and dacoity in an isolated place under Kharabela nagar police limits.
The quick action team,
special squad of the Commissionerate police and the Kharbela nagar police
together raided the spot and manage to nab them.
The arrested persons
were identified as asis Kumar Jena alias Jitu (29) of Chandrasekharpur area,
Seshadev Pradhan alias Sesha (40) and Raghav Jena (45) of Jharpada Pradhansahi odasahi
area here, Rakumar Mohapatra (33) of BJB Nagar area, Raghunath Harichandan (29)
and Nakula Mahakud of Malipada in Chandaka area, Ranjit Nayak (32) of Badagada
area and Sanjay Kumar Swain (28) of PWD colony in Satyanagar area.
They all were booked
under 399/402 IPC and Section 25 Arms Act.
The security forces
recovered one pistol, three rounds of live ammunitions, two sharp sutting
weapons, eight mobile phones and one Indigo2-CS car bearing number OR-O2-BN-0094
from their possessions.
In its endeavor to
unearth the flow of illegal fire arm and to curb down criminal and antisocial
activities in the city, the Commissionerate Police has recently launched
‘Operation Black Smoke’ to put an end to the antisocial activities in the capital
city.
