Bhubaneswar, Oct 5: A
journalist sustained injuries after a group of drunken youths residing at a
slum near the Panda Nursing Home in Unit III under the Kharavel Nagar police
limits on Saturday night attacked him near the Padhi Tutorial at Satya Nagar
while he was returning from Saheed Nagar after witnessing the Ravan Podi
ceremony on foot.
According to the victim
Satrughna Biswal who is working as a Correspondent for Odia daily Anupam Bharat here, at around 8.30 pm on
Saturday the youths who were coming by five to six motorcycles first pushed him
from behind at the Padhi Tutorial and then attacked him mercilessly and took
away his wallet containing Rs 600 and his wrist watch.
“Four youths who were
coming by a Bullet motorbike recklessly first hit me from backside near the
Padhi Tutorial. When I fell down and asked them the reason for such act, the
four youths who were later assisted by more than 10 persons together beat me up
mercilessly and took away my wallet and wrist watch,” said Biswal.
Seized vehicle
Before leaving the
spot, one of them threatened that he is Jaga of the Unit III area and nobody
can do anything to him and his group members, added Biswal.

Meanwhile, the Kharavel
Nagar police detained three youths, including the main accused Jaga, and seized
a Bullet bike from their possession.
