Naveen’s oath taking ceremony costs Rs 34.26 lakh

Bhubaneswar, January 4: While
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s oath-taking ceremony at Rastrapati Bhawan cost
Rs 17.60 lakh, an expenditure of at least Rs 34,26,002 was incurred on the
oath-taking ceremony of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the Raj Bhavan on May
21, an RTI reply has found.
The reply
provided by the Planning and Coordination department Public Information Officer
(PIO) said cost incurred on the arrangements of the oath-taking ceremony,
related to tentage, stage, temporary illumination arrangement, vehicle
arrangements and other allied items is Rs 34, 26,002.
As per the
reply, while Rs 16, 37,500 was spent for providing stage and sitting
arrangement, Rs 17, 45,921 was spent for temporary illumination arrangement, Rs
2,695 for buying table cloth, big towel and small towels, Rs 5,000 for flowers,
Rs 1,800 as vehicle charge for taking silver chair to the Raj Bhavan and Rs
26,377 for refreshment for the staff of PA Department staying beyond office hour
and other works.

Patnaik on May 21 took oath of office for the fourth
consecutive term.
