Walk marks World Heritage Day in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, April 18: In a bid to create awareness about the
importance of ancient monuments and heritage sites hundreds of people,
including students of different schools and colleges, folk artists and people
from different walks of life like politicians and bureaucrats conducted a
heritage walk to mark the World Heritage Day on Saturday here. 
The Odisha Culture and Tourism Department organsied the “heritage walk.” 
The walk started from the Rajarani Temple and culminated at
the Ekamra Bana touching Rabi Talkies Square, Mukteswar Temple, Swarna Jaleswar
Temple, Koti Tirtheswara Temple, Ananta Basudev Temple, Ratha Danda,
Badheibanka Chhak and Boital Temple.
Tourism and Culture Minister Ashok Panda flagged off the
march and highlighted the importance of preservation and conservation of
ancient monuments.
“The main objective of the walk is to create awareness about
the importance of conserving and preserving heritage sites,” said Culture
Secretary Arvind Padhee.
Participating in the march, Bhubaneswar MP Prasanna Patasani
urged the Government to involve the general public to create wider awareness
about the importance of the ancient monuments.
Bhubaneswar (North) MLA Priyadarshi Mishra, BMC Mayor Ananta
Narayan Jena among many others participated in the event.
