Each district will have a Model Police Station: Odisha DGP

Uncategorized
Bhubaneswar, July 27: For effective implementation
and monitoring of Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and System (CCTNS) project
and also to achieve the target easily, one police station of each district would be
converted as Model Police Station.
Director General of Police KB Singh has issued instruction
to all district SPs to select one existing police station of their respective districts
which can be revamped as a Model Police Station under CCTNS project.
CCTNS is an ambitious as well as mission mode
project under National e-Governance plan. The programme is the flagship IT
project of the Indian Police integrating all critical components and aims to
offer police services at the next level. It intends to create a National Data
base and a Citizen Centric portal for interface with the citizens.
Odisha Police is heading towards a stage of Go-live
of CCTNS project in the State. Besides this, most of the services provided by
the Government in different departments are made available through
Internet/Online.
Accordingly, Odisha police have taken initiatives to
provide police related services over internet through “Citizen Portal”.

However, as per the current statistics available, usage of Core Application
Software (CAS) and utilisation of the online services are not up to the
optimum. Officers in the police stations are not generating IIF – I to IIF –XI
using CAS for which the initiative for robust data base is delayed. So, the
services under Citizen Portal are pending with different police stations and districts.

To rectify all these defects and to ensure thorough implementation
of CCTNS related activities, DGP Singh has categorically instructed all the SPs
to select one existing police station in their district as the Model Police
Station.
