Three arm smugglers arrested from Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, July 27: Commissionerate Police on
Wednesday arrested three arms smugglers in the city and seized a country-made
pistol, two live ammunitions, two mobile phones, a pulsar and two scooties from
their possession.
Lingaraj police station officials nabbed Manojit Maharana
alias Manoj (21) of Sundarpada and Sidhartha Jena (25) and Sidhant Jena, both
are brothers, of Brahmeswar Patna at Badgad of Khurda district from Garage
Square along the NH-203. The siblings are natives of Anandapur in Keonjhar district.
While conducting vehicle checking, the police team
led by ASI A Choudhury intercepted the three persons coming from Samatarapur
towards Kalpana Square in a red Pulsar. As the trio could not produce any documents
of the vehicle, they were thoroughly searched by the police team.
During questioning, the trio confessed that they had
been working as arms carrier and brought the firearms from one person of Delang
in Puri district and were taking the same to Bhubaneswar for selling.
