CM to name city road after Mother Teresa on Sept 4

Sep 1: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik would inaugurate naming of the flyover
road from Satyanagar to Cuttack-Puri Road after Saint Mother Teresa on Sunday at
9.30 am.
Housing and Urban
Development Minister Pushpendra Singh Deo, Tourism and Culture Minister Ashok
Chandra Panda, Cuttack MLA Debashish Samantaray, Bhubaneswar (Central) MLA
Bijaya Kumar Mohanty, Bhubaneswar (North) MLA Priyadarshi Mishra, and
Bhubaneswar Municipality  Corporation
(BMC) Mayor Anant Narayan Jena, Archbishop John Barwa SVD of
Cuttack-Bhubaneswar and head of Catholic Church in Odisha would grace the occasion.
“We are
grateful to Odisha Government for naming the road after Mother Teresa. It is
our tribute to Mother Teresa for her invaluable contribution to humanity
through her service and charity,” said Archbishop Barwa, head of Odisha
Catholic Church.
In Odisha
Missionaries of Charity has nine homes for the sick, abandoned and elders; six
homes for children and three centers for leprocy patients and four for mentally
sick.
Pope Francis
will officially declare Mother Teresa as saint on September 4 in Vatican, Rome.
She is one of the icons and legendaries for the humanitarian and philanthropic
services who has given a new meaning to the dignity of humanity.
On August
28, The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation has resolved to name the road as
Saint Mother Teresa Road on the request of Odisha Catholic Bishops’ Council
(OCBC) chairman Archbishop John Barwa SVD.
