Bhubaneswar, Sep 12: Stung by arrest of a gang for allegedly
looting money from youths after promising jobs in the Railways, the East Coast
Railway (ECoR) has formally written to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)
to probe the case.
“East Coast Railway has formally written to the Central
Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to take over the case related to fake/forged recruitment currently in the news in various media and on which various
complaints are coming up,” ECoR said in a statement today.
“In view of large scale operations indicating involvement of
many outside elements in the forgery racket, East Coast Railway has requested
the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to take over the case. This is on
account of large – scale complaints coming from various sectors in the media
and anticipation of a criminal racket operating behind this forgery. As
criminality of outside elements is suspected,
some even from outside the jurisdiction of East Coast Railway,  it was thought fit to hand over the case to
CBI to go into the root of the case,” the statement added.
Meanwhile, the ECoR had also set up a helpline number
8455885031 for receiving complaints of such type and launched awareness drive.
