Odisha Vikash Conclave to raise issues of health for all

Bhubaneswar, Sep 16: A special
session on health would be organised at the Odisha Vikash Conclave (OVC) here
from September 19 to 21.
Topics like
responsibility of patient welfare committees and district health committees,
health service in remote areas and technique of providing sustainable health
services, women and child development, village welfare and cooperation with
Panchayati Raj Department would be discussed at the conclave.
Health and Family
Welfare Department Principal Secretary Arti Ahuja and Family Health Mission Managing
Director Shalini Pandit would participate in the session, besides many social
organisations, experts and researchers who are working on the health issues.
Health service is yet
to reach 5,000 villages of Odisha. While the infant mortality rate is 49 out of
1,000, the poor health infrastructure is a matter of concern.
According to
statistics, only one doctor is now employed for 10,000 people and one nurse for
2,000 in the State. While 38.2 per cent of children are suffering from
stunting, 61.2 per cent women are suffering from anaemia.
As per CYSD chief
Jagadananda, there would be discussions on protecting people from malaria, TB,
asthma and sustainable health services at the conclave.
