Children’s fest ‘Suravi’ from tomorrow

Bhubaneswar, Nov 13: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will inaugurate
the three-day children’s festival Suravi -2016 on Monday here at the Unit-IX
Boys’ High School.  
Preparations are in full swing by the School and Mass Education
Department and Odisha Primary Education Programme Authority (OPEPA) to make the
three-day extravaganza a success one. The event will kick-start on Monday
morning with a cycle rally from the Biju Patnaik (Forest) Park to Unit-IX Boys’
High School, the venue for the event. School and Mass Education Minister Debi
Prasad Mishra will inaugurate the rally.
The Chief Minister will open the programme at the Unit-IX Boys’
High School on Monday afternoon.
A number of events such as essay and slogan writing, song,
dance and skit centred around themes such as elimination of classroom hunger,
nutritional requirement, importance of hand washing, community participation
etc will be in the focus in during the event. Students coming from across the
State will take part in a series of competitions during the three-days.
Drama, dance, songs and other cultural programmes will also
performed by the students. OPEPA Director Mahendra Kumar Mallick said students selected
from various competitions in block and district level over a period of one
month will be participating in the event.
