Smart City: Chief Secy wants project specific SPV

Bhubaneswar, Nov 24: Chief Secretary
Aditya Prasad Padhi on Friday directed the concerned authorities to form
project specific Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for making the railway station
multi-nodal hub project of the ambitious Smart City of Bhubaneswar self-sustaining.

Reviewing the progress of the project
in a high level meeting held at the State Secretariat Padhi directed the
officials to ensure timely completion of the project. Development Commissioner
R Balakrishnan participating in the discussion advised to design the project
very artistically as an iconic building with the touch of Odishan art and
culture.
Presenting the project Bhubaneswar
Municipal Corporation (BMC) Mayor Krishan Kumar informed that it is
Bhubaneswar’s first smart public building and transit oriented development
plan.
The major components of the project
include efficient parking place 
circulation space, multi-level car parking, business plaza, iconic tower
with retail office, hotel, convention hall, residential space, renovated Ashoka
Market, city bus terminal, night shelter for homeless, street vendor
rehabilitation facilities and public amenities. Redevelopment of Bhubaneswar
Railway Station is another important sister scheme of this project. The project
would be developed in two phases.
It was decided to start the ground
level activities for the first phase after formation of the project specific
SPV. The first phase of the project would involve investment of around Rs 250
crore. BDA would implement the project with the support of State
Government.  
Housing and Urban Development
Secretary G Mathivathnan, General Administration Special Secretary Ashok Kumar
Meena, Works Secretary Nalini Kanta Pardhan, Smart City Chief Executive Officer
Vineel Krishna, Commerce and Transport Special Secretary Monoj Kumar Mishra,
Odisha Urban Infrastructure Development Fund Chief Executive Shishir Kumar
Ratho along with senior officers from concerned departments participated in the
discussions.
