Sports climbing complex at Kalinga Stadium by May next

Bhubaneswar, Dec 14: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday
laid the foundation stone for a Sports Climbing Complex with facility for Speed
Wall, Lead Wall and Bouldering here at the Kalinga Stadium.
It will be constructed as per norms of International
Federation of Sports Climbing (IFSC) at Kalinga Stadium Sports Complex. Outdoor
Schools, New Delhi representing enterprises, France has been selected as the
executants through a bidding process with a cost of Rs. 3.70 crore.
The design of the entire project has been vetted by I IT,
Bhubaneswar. The project is expected to be completed by May 2017. The height of
Speed and Lead Climbing Wall is 15 M, while Bouldering wall is 12M wideX4M
height.
It is worth mentioning that Sports Climbing is going to be a
new sports discipline in 2020 Olympics to be held at Tokyo. The Sports Climbing
facility is first of its kind in India confirming to the IFSC Climbing &
Safety norms. The facility will provide opportunity for Sports Climbing players
from the State to train and practice for different National & International
events in Sports Climbing.
