Bhubaneswar, July 26: Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi on
Wednesday held a video conference with district Collectors to review the flood
situation and preparedness by the administration.
Padhi asked the Collectors of flood affected Rayagada,
Kalahandi, Nabarangpur and Malkangiri districts to ensure submission of
preliminary damage assessments of flood indicating areas affected, damage to
public and private properties, relief and restoration measures undertaken and
total loss to the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC).
The Chief Secretary said enumeration of damaged houses,
private properties and sand cast agriculture land should be expedited for
assistance under SDRF norms.
The Collectors may send proposals for allotment of funds as
per SDRF norms, he said.
The Collectors were also asked to keep an eye on the weather
reports from IMD and water level in the rivers to respond to all situations
effectively.
Disaster Response Force must be kept in readiness and low
lying areas should be under focus on a priority basis.
Another top priority Padhi talked about was evacuation of
people and providing them free kitchens and safe drinking water.

He advised the Collector to keep flood shelters and safe
school buildings in readiness and give due attention to healthcare and
vaccination of animals.
