Woman arrested for cheating flat buyers of nearly Rs 3 crore

Bhubaneswar, November 13, 2017: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the State
Crime Branch on Monday arrested Nirupama Sundaray, director of Arundhati
Infratech, for allegedly cheating flat buyers of nearly Rs 3 crore.
She is booked under Section 467/468/471/120-B/406 IPC r/w
Sec.6 of OPID Act, 2011. She was forwarded to the Designated Court under OPID
Act, Cuttack. Earlier, firm managing director Ashok Sundaray was arrested on
May, 8, 2017.
According to the EOW release, Nirupama Sundaray, director of
Arundhati Infratech made advertisement in media in 2010 for booking of residential
plots with house project in their project Arudhanti Vihar located in Jagamara.
About 250 purchasers entered into agreement with the firm represented through
Nirupama Sundarayfor providing simplex building with a lot of land having different
sizes. And the company had collected Rs 3 crore from the interested purchasers.
As per the agreement, the company was to complete
construction within a period of 18-24 months from the date of approval of the
building plan. However, the construction has not completed yet despite passing
of seven years forcing the purchasers to lodge a complaint with the EOW, said
sources.
