ICT Campus to come up in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, November 16, 2017: The Indian Oil Corporation
Limited (IOCL), and Natural Gas and Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT),
Mumbai on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for exploring
feasibility of establishing an ICT campus at Bhubaneswar in the presence of Union
Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan during the Petrochemical
Investors’ Conclave 2017 here.
The joint cooperation between IOCL and ICT will act as a
catalyst for exponential growth of this petrochemical ecosystem which will
result in attracting investments and entrepreneurs to eastern region and also
support in creating employment opportunities for the local population by
focussing on skill development and thus accomplish the goal of development of eastern
region, said Pradhan.
IOCL has already commissioned its state-of-the-art Paradip
Refinery in 2016 and will be commissioning a Polypropylene Plant of 700 KTA at
Paradip by 2018.
This plant will be providing raw material for downstream
Industries such as plastic furniture, cement bags, packaging films, Mon-Woven
bags for domestic and export markets at Odisha and will also help emergence of
world class petrochemical ecosystem in eastern region.
“Technical skill development is a pre-requisite for
leveraging the advantages of this world class Petrochemical ecosystem and ICT is
going to play a pivotal role by extending its expertise to plastic processing
Industry,” added Pradhan.
This institute has been spearheading various projects from
the UGC, DAE, DBT, DST and other agencies, and Indian and Foreign Industries
with several centres of excellence including Chemical Engineering, Food
Engineering, Textiles, Dyes and Polymers.
The faculty is highly accomplished with multi-disciplinary
interests and decorated with national and International Awards and honours
including 19 Padma Awardees.
