Odisha-cadre IAS UP Singh appointed Union Water Resources Secretary

Bhubaneswar, November, 28, 2017: The Union Government on Tuesday
appointed 1985-batch Odisha cadre IAS officer Upendra Prasad Singh as the Secretary
of the Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation.
  
“Upendra Prasad Singh, IAS (OR:85)  presently holding the charge of Director
General, National Mission for Clean Ganga has been appointed as Secretary,
Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation,” said notification
issued by the Department of Personnel and Training.
He will succeed Dr
Amarjit Singh who will superannuate on November 30, 2017.
The appointment of Singh as the new the Secretary of the
Ministry of Water Resources assumed significance as the Odisha Government is
fighting with Centre and Chhattisgarh Government over unilateral construction
of several barrages upstream Mahanadi jeopardising the interest of the Odisha.
