Pune, January 21, 2018: You cannot lead people unless you
love them. When you keep people first, it is good politics and when you keep
people first there is no anti-incumbency, said Odisha Chief Minister Naveen
Patnaik on Sunday here.
The four-time Chief Minister said this while addressing an
impressive gathering at the Eighth Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad (BCS), also known
as Indian Student Parliament, at Pune after being conferred with the ‘Ideal
Chief Minister’ award by former President Pratibha Devisingh Patil.
Patil felicitated Patnaik in the presence of former Union
Minister Dr Murli Manohar Joshi, Milind Deora and Dr Viswanath Karad.
“I dedicate this honour to the four and half crore people of
Odisha who have reposed their faith in us for the past 17 years and
continuously blessed us,” said Patnaik.
Maintaining that 20 years ago he was a political novice,
Patnaik said, “Today, I can say with conviction, that politics is not
complicated.  Politics is the most powerful
instrument to bring about change in the lives of people.”
The BCS Governing Council hails CM for his commitment and
conviction to provide clean governance and delivering on his promises.
The conclave was being organised by MIT World Peace
University on its campus at Kothrud in Pune.
However, this is not the first such award Patnaik is
receiving. Last year, Patnaik had been bestowed with the ‘Best Administrator’
award in the country by the Outlook group last year.
Patnaik was selected from among Bihar CM Nitish
Kumar, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis and
Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah.
