Bhubaneswar,
May 22, 2018: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday invited Union Railway
Minister Piyush Goyal to come to Odisha for signing of the MoU between Odisha
Government and Indian Railways for a new and world class railway station
building in Bhubaneswar.
Earlier,
Goyal requested Patnaik to sign the MoU for development of Bhubaneswar railway
station in New Delhi.
The State
Government will fully bear the expenses of the proposed project, for which
international design firm Subarna Jurong, Singapore has already been engaged.
The project
is designed as a multi-modal hub which will be seamlessly integrated with
surrounding Smart City development. It will connect both sides of the station
through a very wide concourse, giving a completely new experience to the
passengers.
Underscoring
its importance for citizens of Bhubaneswar, Patnaik sought expediting the MoU
signing, which has been delayed considerably and project execution in single
phase instead of the previously proposed two phases.
“This will
involve the MoU that was to be signed on 20.01.2018 envisaged taking up of the
project in two phases. As the same could not be signed and the project has
already been delayed considerably, it is proposed by the State Government that
whole project may be taken in one phase. Accordingly, State Government has
moved for signing of revised MoU, which may be expeditiously approved by the
Railways,” said Patnaik.
“As the
project  is of immense  importance
to the  citizens  of the
city for  which  the
State Government  is committed   to fully
bear the expenses for
development   of a modern  and world- class Station, I would,  therefore,
like to propose that  the MoU may
be signed  at Bhubaneswar on a
mutually  convenient  date,” urged Patnaik.
