Bhubaneswar, June 10, 2018: The Kalinga Institute of Social
Sciences (KISS) has created history by employing a transgender.
Sadhna Mishra, the first transgender of the State was employed
at KISS to work as an Executive officer. It is her birthday on June 10 when she
received the appointment letter from KISS founder and Rajya Sabha member Achyuta
Samanta. She is extremely talented, qualified and has inclination to work for
the uplift of the society.
Despite all promises of equality by legal system, this
community faces discrimination and dejection in all walks of life. It is the
sheer determination of transgender people that keeps them going to get an
identity in the society, said Samanta.
“At KISS, equality has been our cardinal principle. Breaking
all stereotypes and prejudice, we welcome Sadhana wholeheartedly to a new life
of empowering others. I hope that this opens the floodgates for several others
like her,” said Samanta.
Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences  is an organization dedicated to provide
holistic quality education to 27,000 tribal children to eliminate poverty and
hunger.
