Bhubaneswar, June 19, 2018: Hours after the Bharatiya Janata
Party (BJP) pulled out of its alliance with the People’s Democratic Party (PDP)
in Jammu-Kashmir on Tuesday, senior BJP leader and Rourkela MLA Dilip Ray said
that the alliance was a complete ideological mismatch and should have been
ended much earlier.
Hailing the decision of the party, Ray said, “The BJP’s
decision to pull out of the alliance with #PDP in Jammu and Kashmir is a
welcome decision and a one which is in the larger interest of India’s security
and integrity. This alliance was a complete ideological mismatch should have
been ended much earlier.”
Ray in his facebook page said the exponential rise in the
incidents of terrorism, violence and the worsening law and order situation in
the valley is highly disturbing and what further aggravated the situation was
the alliance with the separatist-leaning PDP having a voter’s base comprising
hardliners.
“To restore normalcy in the valley, the Central Government
must now take a strong approach on terror and come down heavily on Pak
sponsored terror outfits and proxies,” Ray suggested.
On Tuesday the BJP pulled out of its alliance with the PDP in
Jammu-Kashmir, three years after the two parties came together following a hung
verdict in 2014. The decision to end the alliance came on the day J&K BJP Ministers
arrived in New Delhi to meet party president Amit Shah.
Addressing a press conference, the party’s J&K
in-charge, Ram Madhav, said it has become untenable for the BJP to continue in
this Government. “Keeping national interest in mind and that Kashmir is an
integral part of India; we have to say it is time that the reins of power in
the state be handed over to the Governor.”
