Dusk-to-dawn music and dance extravaganza at Institute of Physics on Oct 27

Bhubaneswar: Spic Macay (Society for Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth), Odisha chapter will organise Yamin-2018 – the dusk-to-dawn classical music and dance extravaganza on October 27 at the Auditorium of Institute of Physics here.

Yamini was started to celebrate the confluence of ‘rasas’ and ‘ragas’ and provide an opportunity for young artistes to perform alongside stalwarts of the cultural fraternity in the country.

This year Yamin presents Vidwan Vikku Vinayakram, Grammy and Padma Bhushan awardee, Vidushi Aswhini Bhide Deshpande, Sangeet Natak Aacademy awardee, Purbayan Chatterjee, recipient of President’s award for best instrumentalist, Ustad Sabir Khan, recipient of Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar and Ustad Raja Miyan, who was conferred with the title of ‘Sur Mani’.

While Vinayakram will play Ghatam, Deshpande will enthral audience with Hindustani vocal, Chatterjee with Sitar, Khan with Sarangi and Miyanwith Hindustani vocal of Agra Gharana.

The prelude to this gala event will be an interactive session of Spic Macay founder chairperson Padma Shree Dr Kiran Seth, with Subroto Bagchi, co-founder, Mindtree and Chairman, Odisha Skill Development Authority, on October 26 at IDCOL Auditorium near IG Park here.
