Talk on ‘Comparative Literary Study and Odia Literature’ held

Cuttack: Adding to a series of lectures held every month by the Department of Odia Language and Literature, Shailabala Women’s Autonomous College here, a seminar entitled as  ‘A Comparative Literary Study and Odia Literature’ was held at the department on November 27 with scholars deliberating on the topic.

The speakers emphasised that the act of exploring parallel and contrast in a cross-literary perspective enriches literary traditions.

College Principal Dr Chinmayee Mahapatra presided over the meeting. The talk featured the experts like former Professor of English Ananta Charan Shukla, Kamala Nehru Women’s College former Professor of Odia language Debendra Kumar Dash, and JKBK Government College Professor (Odia), Sricharan Mohanty. The speakers spoke on the origin, method and necessity of comparative study and its development in Odia literature.

With the participation of all the students from MPhil classes to undergraduate and Honours classes, the seminar was conducted and coordinated  by Prof Sanjita Mishra, Prof Chita Ranjan Panda, Prof Sanghamitra Acharya, Prof Sujnani Kumari Sahoo, Prof Kamal Mahunta and Prof Priyadarshini Swain.
