Sambalpur gets high level bridge on Mahanadi

Sambalpur: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday inaugurated a high-level bridge on Mahanadi river establishing missing link between Chaurpur, Gosala, Chipilima area to Sambalpur.

Constructed with an estimated cost of Rs 117.72 crore, the 1.5 km long bridge will reduce the distance to district headquarter by 25 km helping improve socio-economic condition of rural people on other side.

The bridge will facilitate better transportation of agriculture produce to the daily markets of Sambalpur and give boost to tourism.

With direct access to Sambalpur, people from rural areas will get access to better healthcare and education.

Patnaik was on a day-long visit to the western Odisha district today to launch several projects. Besides opening the high level bridge, Patnaik inaugurated 19 more developmental projects worth Rs 100 crore in the district and lay foundation-stone for 14 projects, which would come up at an estimated cost of Rs 338 crore.

Later, the Chief Minister addressed a huge gathering of Biju Yuva Vahini volunteers at the Veer Surendra Sai Stadium.
