Five Maoists gunned down in Odisha’s Koraput

Koraput: At least five Maoists, including three women cadres, were gunned down in an encounter with security personnel in Kituba area under Padua police station in Koraput district on Wednesday.

The encounter took place between the Special Operations Group (SOG), District Voluntary Force (DVF) personnel and the red rebels at about 2.45 pm, which lasted for 30 minutes. During the exchange of fire, five Maoists cadres were neutralised, said ADGP (Operations) RP Koche.

The cadres, whose identities are yet to be established, are reportedly belong to the Nandapur Area Committee of Koraput division.

Four sophisticated weapons, two INSAS rifle and two self loading rifles (SLRs), kit bags, battery charger, solar panel and other camp articles were also recovered from the spot.
