1934 bank branches functional in six cyclone Fani-hit Odisha districts

Bhubaneswar: At least 1934 branches out of 1992 banks are functional in cyclone Fani-ravaged six districts in the State. Over 2000 ATMs out of 2921 are also up and running. This was revealed at the State-Centre finance coordination meeting on Thursday.

The meeting was held to take stock of the banking system post cyclone Fani.

“Barring Cooperative and Grameen banks, as many as 1934 bank branches out of 1992 are functional. Over 2,000 ATMs out of 2921 are also up and running,” said State Finance Secretary Ashok Meena.

He said that banks have been asked to prioritise MSME, farmers and businessmen and personal-related loans in cyclone affected districts.

The State-Centre finance coordination meeting was held at State Guest House here under the chairmanship of Union Finance Ministry’s Additional Secretary Debasish Panda.

Officials of different banks, insurance, telecom, RBI and SLBC were present.
