NDDB to provide milk to Anganwadi kids in cyclone Fani-ravaged Puri

Odisha

Bhubaneswar: National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) Chairman Dilip Rath on Wednesday informed that the Board will provide at least 5 lakh 200 ml tetra-packs flavoured milk to all the Anganwadi Centres in cyclone Fani-ravaged Puri district in next two weeks.

“The NDDB is committed to work with the Odisha Government and Omfed in the relief and restoration work. NDDB officials are working in close coordination with Women and Child Development Department, Puri Collector, Omfed authorities and Puri Milk Unions to execute its plan of providing tetra-pack milk to Anganwadi kids,” said Rath in a press conference here.

He said that considering the magnitude of the calamity, all NDDB employees have voluntarily donated a token amount of around 8 lakh for the Fani affected people of Odisha.

Rath too met Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi at the State Secretariat here and handed over the cheque to him.

Even after 18 days of cyclone Fani ripped through Puri, villagers still struggle for food and shelter in darkness as electricity is yet to be restored across Puri district.
