LIC Housing Finance offers loan up to Rs 20 lakh to cyclone-hit victims in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: LIC Housing Finance will offer loans up to Rs 20 lakh at concessional rate of 8.5 per cent to customers in Cyclone Fani affected areas of Odisha.

Under the scheme, loan up to Rs 20 lakh will be extended for properties located in the cyclone affected areas for the purpose of reconstruction, repair, renovation or up-gradation of dwelling units.

Announcing the plan on Monday, LIC Housing Finance COO Siddhartha Mohanty said ‘Odisha Cyclone Scheme’ will be offered at 8.5 per cent special rate of interest.

While customers can apply for loan till September 30, disbursement of loan will continue till December 31.

Customers have been advised to contact local area offices of LIC HFL for further details about the scheme.

“LIC Housing Finance is committed in its endeavour to support the people of Odisha in quickly re-building their homes.  We are confident that our special loan scheme will benefit the people of Odisha in these tough times,” said Mohanty.

Over one crore and sixty-five lakh people got affected by the cyclone in the State and death toll has touched 64 with Puri, recording the maximum number of casualties at 39. Massive damage was caused to power infrastructure, particularly in the districts of Puri, Khurda, Cuttack, and Kendrapada.

Cyclone Fani which made landfall in Puri district on May 3 left a trail of destruction in the State.
