Bhubaneswar: Odisha Congress on Tuesday called for a State-wide protest over atrocities against women and rising minor girl rape cases in the State on Wednesday.

“The Congress will hold a State-wide agitation on Wednesday over rising incidents of atrocities against women and minor girl rape cases. Protests will be held at all district headquarters from 10 am to 1 pm tomorrow,” said Congress Legislature Party leader Narasingha Mishra here.

Notably, for the second straight day today, the State Assembly proceedings were stalled over ‘rising’ child rapes and missing of hundreds of children. The opposition are seeking a debate on crime against children and the Chief Minister’s resignation.

Mishra also targeted the Government for providing wrong information in the State Assembly.

“Though Ministers are furnishing wrong information in the Assembly, the Speaker is silent. When we asked about drought, Government provided data on rainfall. Farmers are committing suicides, but the State Government is not accepting drought-like situation,” alleged Mishra.
