Trains continue to get cancelled in Odisha due to protest over CAA in West Bengal

Bhubaneswar: The ongoing agitation in West Bengal protesting against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in West Bengal continued to affect train services in the State. Major trains originating from Howrah and passing through Odisha have been cancelled.

Agitation was seen at different stations in Howrah-Kharagpur Railway Section of South Eastern Railway leading to cancellation of the trains, said a statement of the East Coast Railways (ECoR). Train services have been affected for last couple of days due to the agitation triggering inconvenience to the passengers.

The trains cancelled on Monday were (22201) Sealdah-Puri Express originating from Sealdah and (12841) Howrah-Chennai Coromandal Express, (12863) Howrah-Yesvantpur Express, (12839) Howrah-Chennai Mail, (12703) Howrah-Secunderabad Falaknuma Express, all originating from Howrah, and (12246) Yesvantpur-Howrah Express and (12246) Yesvantpur-Howrah Express from Yesvantpur, (22860) Chennai-Puri Express and (02860) Chennai-Puri Special from Chennai, and (22818) Mysore-Howrah Express from Mysore.

Similarly, (20890) Tirupati-Howrah express originating from Tirupati (18048) Vascodagama- Howrah Amaravati Express from Vascodagama and (12864) Yesvantpur-Howrah Express from Yesvantpur were also cancelled on Sunday.

The Railways has also cancelled (22878) Ernakulam-Howrah Express from Ernakulam, (12510) Guwahati-Bangalore Cant Express from Guwahati, (12504) Agartala-Bangalore Cant Express from Agartala on Tuesday (December 17).

Guwahati-Secunderabad Express (12514) will be cancelled on December 19 (Thursday) from Guwahati.
