Bhubaneswar: The Special Task Force (STF) of CID Odisha has arrested “Half Pant Babu” alias Basant Behera and “Nil” alias Niladri Das for their alleged links with notorious drug smuggler Sk Raja of Balasore, who was arrested in September this year.
One Yamaha scotty, three mobiles and some incriminating documents were seized from their possession. Basanta and Niladri are the residents of Balasore.
On September 15, some drug peddlers while transporting brown sugar from Balasore to Khurda were intercepted by the STF. Nearly 130 grams of brown sugar was seized from their possession. In this connection three persons were arrested and a car was seized.
During investigation, the nexus of an inter-State brown sugar dealer namely Sk Raja was established and Raja was arrested. STF sleuths seized some incriminating documents including one firearm and one live ammunition from his possession. During the course of investigation properties worth Rs 1.68 crore of Raja earned out of contraband business was seized.
