Odisha CM appals to citizens to practise social distancing to keep Coronavirus at bay

Bhubaneswar: Terming the Coronavirus aka COVID-19 outbreak a pandemic for human race, one without vaccine or treatment, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has appealed to all the citizens to practise social distancing and refrain from spreading rumours and misinformation to keep the virus at bay.

“The rapid spread of novel Coronavirus across the globe in the last few months has become one of the biggest challenges to confront the human race in recent times. We are faced with a pandemic for which there is no vaccine or treatment. To successfully contain the spread of this disease requires our collective, responsible action,” said Patnaik in his Facebook account.

“The most effective measure in protecting ourselves from the Coronavirus is to practise social distancing. Each of us should avoid social gatherings and assemblies like religious functions, marriage receptions etc. Being at home, reducing social interactions and avoiding gatherings will cut down vulnerability to a great extent,” said the Chief Minister.

Meanwhile, the State Government has declared the COVID-19 as a disaster for the State and closed down educational institutions, cinema halls, swimming pools, gyms till March 31 as preventive measures.
