Coronavirus scare: 1,239 foreign-returned to undergo home-quarantine in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: A total of 1,239 person, who returned from abroad after March 3 midnight to Odisha, have registered with the State Government’s portal or helpline number for self or home-quarantine in the last 24 hours, said State Government’s Chief Spokesperson on Coronavirus aka COVID-19 Subroto Bagchi.

“In last 24 hours, 1,239 persons have registered themselves on the COVID-19 portal for self-quarantine. Of them, 554 have registered through the call centre while 685 have registered on the portal,” said Bagchi in a press conference here.

Bagchi said that in Odisha, 32 samples have been sent for testing out of which 31 have tested negative for Coronavirus so far.

“The health condition of the lone positive person, with travel history to Italy, is stable,” added Bagchi.

He informed that the Government is working on containment strategies for the virus basing on multiple scenarios over the next five to six months.

Day after a man in Bhubaneswar with travel history to Italy tested positive for Covid-19, the State Government on Monday made it mandatory for all who return to the State from any other country to stay in ‘home quarantine’ for 14 days. They will be provided an incentive of Rs 15,000.
