OMC contributes Rs 500 crore to CMRF to fight COVID-19

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) has contributed Rs 500 crore to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) for supporting State Government’s efforts to control novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation, apart from Rs 250 crore interim dividend for year 2019-20.

“The COVID-19 has created an extraordinary situation across the world. The state Government has taken proactive measures to contain the spread of the virus. The Chief Minister has for support from all sections of the society. OMC as a responsible public sector company, is contributing Rs 500 crore to the CMRF for supporting the State Government’s efforts to control the COVID-19 situation,” said an OMC release.

This is apart from the Rs 100 crore already contributed to CMRF in February 2020, it said.

“Further, the Board of Directors of OMC declared Rs 250 crore as the interim dividend for the financial year 2019-20,” it added.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has also donated his three months’ salary to the CMRF to help those affected by the novel Coronavirus. He has appealed to all to donate generously for the cause.
