Odisha to set up two COVID-19 hospitals with 1000 beds

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government on Thursday signed two tripartite agreements with SUM and KIIMS Medical Colleges at Lok Seva Bhawan to set up 1000-beded State-level hospitals in Bhubaneswar for treatment of new Coronavirus aka COVID-19 patients.

These hospitals will be the State facility for COVID-19 treatment. OMC and MCL will provide the CSR funding for the purpose. Both the new facilities will be functional in a fortnight.

The first MoU was signed by State Health Secretary Nikunja Bihari Dhal and OMC Vineel Krishna and KIIMS Management to set up a 450 beded hospital.

The second MOU was signed by Dhal, SS Panda of MCL and SUM Hospital Management to set up a 500 beded hospital plus ICU facilities.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik congratulated the partners and OMC and MCL for coming forward and working in synergy in the interest of the people of the State.

Among others, Achyuta Samanta of KIIMS, SOA University VC Prof Ashok Mohapatra was present.
