Fighting COVID-19: BMC starts spraying disinfectants across Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: In order to maintain better sanitation and hygiene conditions in view of the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Monday started spraying disinfectants at various establishments and public places across the capital city.

The BMC has come up with the method to check the spread Covid-19 as all three positive cases of Coronavirus in Odisha were reported from Bhubaneswar.

In coordination with the Odisha Fire Services personnel, BMC is spraying Sodium Hypochlorite at public places along the roads to ensure better hygienic conditions, said an official release.

While three fire tenders of the Odisha Fire Services were engaged in the Bapuji Nagar area and Janpath area five fire tenders were deployed to cover CRP Square, Fire Station Square, Siripur Square and Ganga Nagar Square, Baramunda bus station, respectively.

The spraying was also conducted in CRP-Fire Station-Baramunda-Delta-Gopabandhu-Siripur route and Ganganagar area.

Apart from the spraying of disinfectants the civic body has also started fogging activities across the city along with road cleaning, bush cutting and spraying of disinfectants in slums.

The entire activities across the city were coordinated under the leadership of BMC Commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary and senior officials through the COVID-19 Control Room established at the Central office of BMC.

The City Health Office of BMC has chalked out a detailed plan in coordination with the COVID-19 control room to carry out the sanitization work through spraying disinfectants and fogging.
