Positive cases are being reported from among the workers who recently returned from various States, mostly from West Bengal and Surat.

At least 18 of 30 districts in Odisha have been affected by the Coronavirus, so far.

Jajpur recorded the highest 55 cases followed by Khurda (47), all from Bhubaneswar, Balasore (25), Ganjam and Balasore (21) each, Sundargarh (12), Jagatsinghpur (4), Mayurbhanj and Kendrapara (3) each, Bolangir, Jharsuguda, Kenojhar, Kalahandi and Cuttack (2) each and Koraput, Deogarh, Dhenkanal and Puri (1) each.

So far 35,540 Odias have returned to the State since May 3. Given that more than 10 lakh people have registered with the Government portal, the number of positive cases may swell fast in the coming days.

The State Government has developed about 12,000 temporary medical camps (TMCs) in 6,798 gram panchayats of the State. In all these centres, around 5 lakh beds have been arranged for returnees to provide Covid-19 health services in the rural areas.

The returnees will be accommodated there for 14 days’ mandatory quarantine.

In urban areas, home quarantine is also being allowed to the returnees.
