Bhubaneswar: Continuing its move against Government officials and employees accused of corruption, the Naveen Patnaik Government on Monday ordered compulsory retirement of Pradeep Kumar Mohanty, former Chief District Agriculture Officer of Koraput serving in the rank of Deputy Director, Agriculture.

Following allegations of corruption, Mohanty was intercepted by the State Vigilance on July 2 while he was on his way to Bhubaneswar and seized more than Rs11 lakh cash from his possession, which he could not justify.

He was arrested on the same day and forwarded to court and was remanded to judicial custody.  He was then placed under suspension.  The total value of his movable and immovable assets till now has been found to the tune of Rs 3.5 crore.

With careful consideration of the policy of zero tolerance towards any act of immorality, inefficiency or lack of integrity, Mohanty has been given compulsory retirement with immediate effect.
