Odisha Police executes 3,988 NBWs in eight days

Cuttack, March 15: As many as 3,988 non-bailable warrants (NBWs) have been executed by the Odisha Police across the State during a special drive conducted between March 7 and 14, said an official release.

The NBWs include 3,395 GR and 593 ST cases.

According to a communiqué of the State Police Headquarters, Ganjam district Police has executed highest 452 NBWs followed by Kendrapara district Police with 307 NBWs and Balasore with 298 NBWs.

“These SPs have been issued appreciation letter by DGP,” it said.

“Odisha Police has launched a special drive to arrest persons against whom NBW from a Court is pending from 7th March to 14th March-2021. The main aim of the drive was to bring the absconders who were avoiding trial, to justice and thereby expedite trials held up for that reason. Special attention was given to cases where NBW was pending for long, especially in GR & ST case,” it added.
