Odisha sees spike of 2,267 COVID-19 cases, three deaths

Bhubaneswar, April 14: Odisha on Wednesday witnessed a big jump in daily new COVID-19 cases with 2,267 people being detected with the virus and three people succumbing to the infections in the last 24 hours.

These new cases have been detected in 29 districts of the State. Of the total 2,267 cases, 1,314 cases were detected from among the quarantined people while 953 infections were local contacts, said Health and Family Welfare Department.

This apart, 81 cases were reported from the State Pool.

Five districts reported above 100 infections.

Highest 458 cases reported in Sundergarh followed by Khurda (348), Sambalpur & Bargarh (120) each, Cuttack (117), Nabarangpur and Nuapada (104) each.

With these fresh cases, the virus tally in the State mounted to 3,55,353 with 12,244 active cases.

With the three fresh casualties, the death toll has increased to 1,933 in the State. The fatalities were reported from Jajpur, Ganjam and Bolangir districts.
