Bhubaneswar, April 14: Congress candidate for Pipili Assembly bypoll, Ajit Mangaraj died of COVID-19 while undergoing treatment at a private hospital here.
Now, elections was postponed as he was set up by a recognised political party. Voting for the by-election was scheduled on April 17.
Mangaraj fell sick while campaigning on April 7 (Wednesday) and have stayed away since then. On April 10, in a facebook post, Mangaraj said that he has tested positive for Covid-19 and urged his followers to work hard and ensure the party’s victory in the bypoll.
The by-election to the Pipili Assembly constituency was necessitated following the death of Pradeep Maharathy.
