Odisha sees 3% drop in COVID-19 positivity rate in last 72-hrs; 10,031 new cases, 17 deaths reported today

Bhubaneswar, May 10: Odisha has witnessed three per cent drop in COVID-19 positivity rate in the last 72 hours as 10,031 infections were reported on Monday.

The number of daily infections which stood at 10,635 on Sunday has come down to 10,031 today. With today’s surge, the total caseload has mounted to 54, 4,873 in the State.

The total positivity rate (TPR) was recorded at 20.73% today while it was 24% on Thursday, 23.21% on Friday and 21.81% on Saturday.

Similarly, 17 more patients succumbed to the deadly virus in last 24 hours in the State, pushing the death toll to 2,197.

Khurda, Rayagada, Kalahandi and Sundergarh districts witnessed three casualties each due to the virus while Puri reported two fatalities followed by one each in Angul, Dhenkanal and Bolangir districts.

Khurda and Sundergarh continued to be the worst-hit districts with 1,329 and 824 cases, respectively. Cuttack remained third in the row with 720 new cases.

Barring Gajapati, Kandhamal and Malkangiri, rest 27 districts of the State registered above 100 cases.

Puri reported 708 cases followed Angul (456), Bargarh (450), Kalahandi (433), Jharsuguida (418), Sambalpur (302), Nuapada (311), and Jajpur (328).

Likewise, Nayagarh, Mayurbhanj, Kendrapara, Ganjam, Dhenkanal, Bolangir, Bhadrak and Balasore recorded below 300 cases each.
