It will be made functional
by October this year. The ambulance will have necessary medical equipment for
treating animals suffering from diseases or injured due to accidents. These
include an animal lifting and standing support, surgical instruments,
sterilizer and other equipment. A vehicle with power steering will be modified
for the unit, making it possible for services in remote areas with narrow
approach roads as well.
With the facilities
available in the mobile unit, disease condition can be diagnosed on the spot
and appropriate treatment will be provided to the suffering animals. In order
to attend emergency cases particularly accidents during odd hours, the unit
will be useful. Some animals will be brought to the Hospital for follow-up
treatment at Veterinary Hospital.
Provision will be made

such as cow or buffalo from lying position and for placing it on the supporting
device to stand on its legs. Those animals, which cannot stand on its own, will
be lifted with the animal lifting device and treatment can be given.
The animal ambulance
unit will function in two shifts of six hours each (from 8 am to 2 pm and 2 pm to
8 pm). Veterinary teams will extend their timely services to animals during
emergency in two shifts. Provision of free first aid treatment with life-saving
drugs on the spot will be made for stray and abandoned animals. Mobility will
be provided to the sick animals (pet dogs/ small ruminants) for their lifting
and transportation to the nearest head quarter hospital only on a phone call to
Helpline number. However, user fees will be charged as per the prevailing rate
in such cases.
In most of the
accidental cases, it becomes very difficult to identify the cattle owners for
which the injured/ distress livestock remain unattended and uncared for a long
period followed by unnatural death. Animal ambulance will address the issue by
providing emergency veterinary assistance required for stray Animals like dogs,
cow, bulls etc. On receipt of helpline call, the ambulance will rush to the
