Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana: Key things to know

Bhubaneswar, September 12, 2018: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has formally launched Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BKSY) on August 15. BSKY promises insurance of up to Rs 5 lakh per eligible family and Rs 7 lakh for treatment of female members. The scheme claims to cover 70 lakh families on Odisha.

Objective

Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana has a direct impact on the population’s health and welfare. Access and use of this healthcare service will enable people to be more productive and active contributors to their families and communities. At the same time, BSKY enables financial risk protection which prevents people from being pushed into poverty when they have to pay for health services out of their own pockets. BSKY aims towards building a better livelihood for each and everyone.

 *Who Is Eligible?

 

  • All families are eligible for free health care services at Government healthcare institutions up to District Headquarters Hospital level.
  • For annual health coverage of Rs 5 lakh per annum per family and Rs 7 lakh per annum for women members of the family, all currently enrolled Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana card holders, Biju Krushak Kalyan Yojana card holders and families with annual income below Rs 50,000 in rural areas and below Rs 60,000 in urban areas are eligible for healthcare services in all 8500 Government hospitals and 208 private hospitals in and outside the State.
