Bhubaneswar: After BJP Mahila Morcha vice president Sushamarani Biswal from Nilagiri joined Biju Janata Dal (BJD) three days back, Nilagiri’s outgoing MLA Sukant Nayak on Friday resigned from the BJD. Sushamarani is now tipped to contest from BJD.

The fresh jolt came to BJD just a day after party Nabarangpur MP Balabhadra Majhi deserted the regional party claiming that he was “ignored and cheated”. Majhi, represents Nabarangpur (ST) Lok Sabha seat.

Nayak resigned from the primary membership of the party alleging conspiracy against him which was exhibited during the joining ceremony of an opposition party leader recently. He is now tipped to contest on BJP ticket.

Nayak also accused Balasore district BJD president of giving him mental torture. He has sent his resignation letter to party president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

“A conspiracy has been hatched, which has been exhibited during the joining of a person ignoring me who had been defeated during the last election-2014 by a margin of 13,000 votes. To add my disadvantage the mental torture meted with me by the District BJD president becomes unbearable day by day,” said Nayak in his resignation letter.
