Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Cabinet headed by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday approved construction of Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) at Baramumda and a Bus Depot at Khandagiri for relocation of the present OSRTC Bus Depot from Baramunda.
The projects will improve public transit system in the city.
The projects will be developed by Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) on EPC mode through transparent bidding process and will be completed in two years. Bridge and Roof Company India, a Central Government undertaking has become the preferred bidder with an offer Rs 160.66 crore.
The Cabinet also approved widening and strengthening of 43 km Tomka-Mangalpur Road under DMF. It will directly link mineral belt of Kaniha and Sukinda to industrial areas like Kalinga Nagar and ports like Paradeep and Dhamra, decongest traffic and aid socio-economic development of the area.
The Cabinet gave the nod to Food and Procurement Policy for Kharif Marketing Season (KMS) 2019-20 to regulate all aspects of paddy and rice procurement in the ensuing Kharif season. A target of procuring 41 Lakh Metric Tonnes for rice and 60 Lakh Metric Tonne for paddy has been set by the State Government.
It also approved a project worth Rs 149.12 crore to implement Rural Piped Water Supply Project in Balasore district under BASUDHA scheme to supply safe drinking water to 90 villages of Nilgiri block. The project will be completed in two years.
A proposal for construction of teaching hospital for New Government Medical College in Balasore to improve medical education and cater to the needs of more number of qualified doctors also got the nod of the State Cabinet. The Rs 144.98 crore worth project will be completed in two and half years.
The Odisha Cabinet too approved a proposal for construction of a teaching hospital for New Government Medical College in Balangir to improve medical education and bolster healthcare service with more number of qualified doctors. The Rs 142.45 crore project will be completed in 2.5 years.
