Mo Sarkar: CM announces measures to boost public health infra, patient care

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday approved several measures for four hospitals based on feedbacks received from people during the visit of officials to various districts as part of Mo Sarkar initiative.

The Chief Minister said the bed capacity at the Malkangiri district headquarters hospital (DHH) will be increased to 200. An attendant rest shed and doctors’ accommodation and transit home will be erected in the DHH. This apart, the Chief Minister said bus service will be available from Motu to Malkangiri on a daily basis.

The Chief Minister announced that a composite hospital with 500 beds will come up at the Saheed Laxman Naik Medical College and Hospital, Koraput and in 24 months it will be enhanced to 700. An attendant rest shed will come up in the present campus as an interim measures while staff quarters and transit home will also be built in the composite campus. Five ambulances and three Mahaprayana vehicles will be provided to the Koraput medical college, said Patnaik.

Similarly, bed strength at Koraput DHH will be increased to 250 and a new ward above the existing building will be constructed. Staff quarters and attendants’ rest shed will come up at the DHH. Two ambulances will be provided to the DHH, said the Chief Minister.

The Chief Minister further said that the bed strength at Nabarangpur DHH will be increased to 200. This apart, a 200-beded new hospital building and attendants’ rest shed will also come up in the DHH. The DHH will also be provided with three ambulances and three Mahaparayan vehicles.

Patnaik said that he has already made 120 phone calls under Mo Sarkar since it was launched on October 2 and the response has been encouraging.

“About 10 days ago on Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary Mo Sarkar was launched. We focused on police and health. I have made 120 calls and the response has been encouraging,” said the Chief Minister.

As part of our strategy, I had sent officers across the State with a directive to cover at least 15 districts. The feedbacks on peoples’ participation have been very inspiring and the response by both police and health functionaries in the field has been encouraging, added the CM.
